Thanks to ATMEL Italy we tested the AT91SAM9M10-EK board for a while with Linux and Windows CE 6.0 and the first impression was incredible : we use the very good ATMEL ARM9 uController since the RM9200 and we know very well the respons time of this microprocessor using Linux or WinCE.

But running these OS on the SAM9M10-EK board we discovered another world ... one example for all : Windows CE 6.0 R3 starts in 9" including EBOOT !!

Globally the EK board it seems to be powered by an ARM11@500MHz and not by an ARM9@400MHz.

This performance gap colud be  described by two unique functions available on this new ATMEL uC :

• DDR2 SRAM memory
• Double system BUS

Our opinion about this new uController made in ATMEL is that we have available a very powerfull architecture which can combine low cost, high power and the always easy and linear peripheral architecture which let the device very easy to understand and to be managed.
